Master Sung-Tso Chen began the daily practice of Tai Chi and Qi-Gong at age 9 and has practiced meditation at many temples. Master Chen returns to China every other year to study with his Master who is the senior student of Wong Shuh-Jin, the famous Tai Chi Chuan and Pa Kua Chang Grand Master, as well as with Master Liaw Jen-Shyang who is the senior student of Grand Master Cheng Man-Ching, who first introduced American students to Tai Chi in 1964.
Master Chen comes from a remarkable educational background. His father is a Western physician, while his uncle practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine and healing arts. From the time he was a small boy, Master Chen observed standard practices of both Eastern and Western medical traditions. Master Chen was invited at the age of twelve to study Taoist and Confucian philosophies with the monks who lived in the Taoist Temple located next door to his family's home.
Master Chen established the first internal martial arts school on the Treasure Coast in 1988, offering classes in Tai Chi, Qi-Gong, and Taoist and Buddhist meditation techniques. He is well known for his skills in cultivating internal energy (Qi) and in assisting clients and students in the self-cultivation and regaining of their own internal strengths. Master Chen is a member instructor of the Tai Chi Association of the Republic of China and holds a Certificate of Technical Specialty from the Indian River Community College. Master Chen is also a popular public speaker and has been invited to give lectures at national resorts, sports clinics, local hospitals, fitness centers, country clubs, and residential communities, as well as at various colleges and universities. He is also a popular media personality, being featured in the news and appearing on radio and television.
Master Chen is a life-long practitioner of Tai Chi, Qi-Gong, and meditation who has been teaching these arts for over 16 years and serves as a consultant to local social workers, psychologusts, chiropractors, acupuncturists, medical doctors, dentists, body builders, and professional golfers and tennis players. |
